"FOR A MILLENIUM OF LIFE:
NO TO DEATH PENALTY"
( in Spain )
An Invitation to the World
To mark the worldwide campaign against death penalty organised by Amnesty International which will go on well until mid-2,000, the Tarragona group of this organisation pro-human rights has taken the initiative to work jointly with the Group AUMA (Mail Art Urgent Action) on the organisation of a Mail Art call to support the above-mentioned postulates.
Through this campaign, Amnesty International attempts to put pressure on the United Nations General Assembly so that a resolution is passed encouraging those states which have not abolished death penalty to consider its total abolition. Simultaneously, Amnesty International will request that those countries where executions are still in force put an end to such a procedure. Likewise, Amnesty International will ask for a general ratification of pro-abolition treaties, and will defend the inclusion of this point in the constitution of the countries where death penalty is still in force.
